When will it be possible to travel with Hyperloop?

We intend to start with cargo transportation within the next 5 years and human passengers within the next 10 years, depending on regulatory approval.

What is Swisspod?

We are a B2B transportation technology company aiming to change the way people travel by connecting cities through sustainable, safe and efficient high-speed Hyperloop solutions. Swisspod was founded in 2019 by leading Hyperloop veterans and is headquartered in Monthey, Switzerland, with U.S. offices in Miami Beach, Florida.

Why Hyperloop?

Hyperloop is a clear improvement over current modes of transportation in terms of sustainability, energy-efficiency, safety and speed. We believe that we can safely build a Hyperloop system that will disrupt the future of travel and broaden our horizons by bridging distances between cities and bringing people closer.

Why now?

The global transportation sector today continues to be a major catalyst of the climate crisis and of unequal access to opportunities - change is urgent and can be brought by Hyperloop. Swisspod believes it is developing the necessary engineering components to reduce the cost and energy consumption to make this mode of transportation not only sustainable but economically viable.

Does Swisspod have any key partnerships?

We have established critical partnerships with research institutions such as CERN, and industry leaders like ABB, and we collaborate with regulatory committees like the European Commission.

Is Hyperloop sustainable?

Sustainability and renewability are at the heart of Hyperloop - through the use of magnetic levitation and electric motors for propulsion, direct carbon emissions can be driven down to zero.

What is the cost of building a full-scale Hyperloop system?

Almost all of the cost lies in the construction of the infrastructure. By focusing on packaging all technology into the pod itself, we will minimize the complexity and therefore the cost of the infrastructure.

Has Hyperloop technology been tested or validated yet?

Hyperloop is still in the R&D phase around the world and is being researched by many companies including Swisspod, with its infinite-trajectory testing facility in Switzerland, as well as Virgin Hyperloop with its test site in Nevada.

How fast is it?

The autonomous electric pod travels free of air resistance at speeds of over 700 km/h (or 430 mph), with a maximal velocity close to the speed of sound (about 1200 km/h or 760 mph). Final operation speeds will depend on use cases for this modular technology.

What is Hyperloop and how does it work?

Hyperloop is a fully-electric contactless transportation system enabled by magnetic levitation that consists of an autonomous electric pod floating at sonic speeds in a low-pressure environment.

What are the potential benefits of Hyperloop to society?

By enabling fast and safe travel between cities, Hyperloop improves access to job opportunities, education, housing as well as goods, while reducing emissions, traffic congestion and accidents.

How will it feel to travel at such high speed?

The acceleration and deceleration will be gradual so passengers will have an easy-going travel experience, similar to the one they would get on an airplane.

What are the safety standards and regulations governing Hyperloop?

We are currently working with the European Commission, the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking, and the Joint Technical Committee JTC20 to establish and implement these standards and regulations.

Does Hyperloop consist of safety exits and stationary points in case of emergency?

Yes, our Hyperloop system is equipped with safety exits and safe havens. In an emergency, sound safety procedures will be followed to evacuate passengers/cargo efficiently and securely.

Is Hyperloop susceptible to accidents and weather disruptions?

The autonomous operation of the Hyperloop system mitigates key risks associated with human error. Moreover, the robust, isolated and low-pressurized environment makes it immune to adverse weather conditions.

What makes Hyperloop a safe mode of transportation?
